| Achilles Tang | Re: Fantastic Fifty Five Gallon Great Tanks To Be. one of my last pics of my old 55g before i ripped it down, bought my 125g, and moved everything over. was a relief to tear it down, it was a pain in the arse tank. it had 280lbs of live rock, and i filled it with tapwater and for 6 months of the year i had the tank, i did topoffs with tapwater not knowing about RO water, city water here is full of crap so i always had cyano, and in the hair algae stage i had 2ft strands of hair algae tank had a lawnmower blenny (RIP, stung by green galaxia and died), yellow tang (RIP from age), volitan lionfish (RIP from something), yellow watchman goby (still have in 125g), lunar wrasse (still got in 125g), and it had a coral banded shrimp but i couldnt find him when i drained the tank the tank didnt have a sump since it wasnt on a aquarium stand, and lighting was a 150w halide and 2x24w T5 all i can say is thank god i sold the tank and am done with it ![]()

| Achilles Tang | Re: Fantastic Fifty Five Gallon Great Tanks To Be. it was a beginners mistake, i feel bad for sticking him there, and i would give any amount of money to get him back and put him in a proper tank like my 125g however, at the store, he was in a 10g with another yellow tang and they were both adults so he had a crap life there i thought i would never get a yellow tang again but with the boxing day sale at big als i ended op getting a baby one for my 125g 2 days ago for cheap ![]()

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Fantastic Fifty Five Gallon Great Tanks To Be. An adult yellow would never fit in a 10g since their adult size is 8 inches. Certainly not 2. Anyway the 55 was certainly more room than a 10, though like you said not enough. Let's see some more pics. With the footprint on these tanks it should force some aquascaping challenges. I would love to see how people handle it.

| Achilles Tang | Re: Fantastic Fifty Five Gallon Great Tanks To Be. yeah, bigalsonline but theres a store here, they had sales on everything and livestock was 20%-75% off. i was 10th in line the first day to get everything cheap those yellow tangs were CRAMPED, and the one i didnt get had something really weird with his snout, it was bent down at a 90 degree angle

| Achilles Tang | Re: Fantastic Fifty Five Gallon Great Tanks To Be. My 55 is a blast for me. I love a chalange and this definetly qualifies. I ave been working on it and will get more pics as it developes. I love making shelves and caves so it it intersting how it works, The rock I bought for the purpose of making a shelf with was to wide so I am trying to decide if I want to cut it down or get a different peice. And as for a yellow tank, get this, my old LFS told me they do great in a 55 and I would have no problems with it in there. Good thing I researched it first. and New Reefer, I had to turn the sump sideways to make it work, only had about 14 inches ant the tank was just narrow enough to fit like I have it. If I had not setup my tank at an angle in the corner i would have put it on a stand behind the tank.

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Fantastic Fifty Five Gallon Great Tanks To Be. The narrow tank is your challenge. My challenge is a penninsula tank. I love the idea but man is mine a challenge to scape since you can see from 3 sides. I like to see how people take advantage of the space they have to come up with interresting solutions.

| Manta Ray | Re: Fantastic Fifty Five Gallon Great Tanks To Be. i like a challenge too, but i like my tank to have caves like you said, and i think that is going to be hard, with adding 2x the rocl i have. im also a little concerned if the rocks will screw up my flow..? Lynn, do you have a fifty five, or are you just enjoying us trying to make it work? ![]()

| Manta Ray | Re: Fantastic Fifty Five Gallon Great Tanks To Be. i cant decide how i want my rock. i like the caves idea, but i also like the "columns" idea, where its open in the middle. and stupid me, i glues alot of my GSPs down, so now im going to have to build around them, and they grew Fast!
