| Achilles Tang | Real Gratefull Well today, the day after Christmas. The malls are stuffed with bargin hunters and returns and with the few that just could not put off getting that gallon of milk or the loaf of bread. Whatever the reason there was a lot of people out today, including myself. Me I was not intending on going to any stores. I was just wanting good deals on reef stuff that was being sold by a fellow reefer that could no longer take care of his tank and was getting out of the hobby. I got some lr from him, made a deal on lights and got a couple master test kits. Got nervous when he threw in some Kenya trees and gps. He also tossed in some snails, hermit crabs and even a bunch of astria stars. As I stood there I realized that my wife not only went with me but suported my hobby. She wanted to make the two hour drive to save the money and get stuff for the tank. This was more aparrent when the other reefer said that it was hard to do something like a reef tank without the support of you spouse. When we got going again my wife suggested stopping and seeing what kind of deals the LFS had going, Glad I did. I had a water sample with me as I was going to stop at my old lfs and get the water tested but when she said to stop there I was not going to argue. As it turned out Little Johns 6 was almost ready, Just a little work and it is good to go. But they had a box of heaters, used , for $5 each so I got a couple then he said that everything was half off today so I got my water there well at $0.15 a gallon why not. I have to buy it right now and that is the cheapest I have EVER found it. My wife found several fish we liked that I will do some research on and even little john was excited to be there. When I got home my wife started mixing salt as I started working through Little Johns tank hoping it was close enough to put the frags in for now, swearing under my breath, we got the water mixed and changed. Tested and found that ALL levels were great. Started acclamation and continued to work. My wife went to cleaning the glass, coraline does not come off easy, I went to work on the Koralia as it was running backwards(cant figure that one out) and two hours later put the frags in the water (scared that they would be killed in 5 minnutes) and less than an hour later the GPS was coming out the Kenya trees were standing tall and all looks great. All of this is only possible due to the one thing that I have that I would trade EVERYTHING else for--My family-- They support, help, and even join in and encourage my hobby. The other thing That runs a close second is this place. I feel like I have found a hobby that I have total support in, for the first time ever. I am very grateful for all the help from the people here, both the ones answering my questions and the ones that have taken the time to post all the "beginers info" and to my family for standing behind me even when it looked like I had trashed my 55 and was going to have to restart it. A BIG THANK YOU GOES TO EVERYONE, Shaun ![]()

It's ALL gotta go!! Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change. Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian) This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%. | Neon dottyback | Re: Real Gratefull That almost made me cry! I'm trying real hard to get my hubby even remotely interested in it. He just seems to get jealous b/c I spend so much time on here learning & messing with the tanks. You are very lucky! Maybe one day I can say that.

| Elegance coral | Re: Real Gratefull Same here, but with my wife (with out the tears). I dont think she supports me as much as she just deals with it. I'll get a new coral or fish and just stare at it for an hour looking over the fine details, She looks and says yeah its pretty, and walks away.

| Achilles Tang | Re: Real Gratefull It was awesome last night. As I was staring into the tank ,watching the gsp open. My wife got off the couch to sit with me for a bit and even told me to move over cause she could not see very good from where she was. First thing little john did this morning was go running for his tank to check out the stuff and see how they were doing, he went to bed before the gsp opened and was amazed at how they looked in his tank. My nephew, whom lives with me, Asked me if I wanted him to go ahead and mix up the last of the ro water I have for a water change in my 55. He also is willing to help keep an eye on the baby while I do stuff with the tanks so that I do not have to keep starting and stopping. And the baby, well if she is crying and you want to stop her quick, just hold her up infront of a tank and she will stop crying and just stare and smile. Yep I start em young here.

| Golden Moray | Re: Real Gratefull this much is true... the k tree... will thrive.. and once it does.. it will spread.... and spread and spread, and spread. te GSp are a little less hardy IMO but they will also thrive, and spread... try to contain them..... after time, they will get loose.. but they require almost nothing,
