| Golden Moray ![]() | Re: okay al and lynn The PO4 is in the4 foods. By soaking the food in water in leeches the PO4 out. When you dump that water into your tank you are also adding the PO4. It is best to thaw the food, dump into a fish net or similar device and then rinse the food with fresh/ro water. You can then add it to back into the thaw container with some fresh water and then feed from there.

| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: okay al and lynn faust thanks for posting this information. That's pure "Rocket Fuel" for algae that would otherwise be going right into your tank. Cole that's exactly what's happening. If you don't thaw/rinse to get rid of that it goes into your tank and feeds algae blooms. This is a VERY common thing and one that usually leads to nasty Hair Algae outbreaks. again thanks for posting this faust.

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: okay al and lynn no need for a coffee filter. Just use a small strainer or even a small fish net. I have several small strainers that I use so they can rotate through the dishwasher. I simply thaw the food in the strainer and then run it under the ro water for a minute or so before feeding the tanks. I got them from the kitchen aisle at Wally World for around $2.00.

| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: okay al and lynn I don't have a clue about "nutritional" impact of refreezing. I haven't heard any of the fish complain about taste and I've been doing this for 23 months now. All I can do is tell you how it works for my particular systems.
