| Cabbage Leather | Re: HELP Starfish looking bad! That is the best photo i'll be able to get. It apears to have a hole with string like stuff comeing from it. It is a little difficult to tell exactly. If it is a bacterial infection how do we treat it? and will it affect fish/corals in the tank? |

Although it does appear to be a Fromia I don't believe it's a marble starfish or it's a variant.

| Harlequin Tuskfish | Re: HELP Starfish looking bad! I dont think there is a specific thing that we can say they eat. They are a very delicate creature. Linkia i believe are the hardest to keep. Many have had no success with them They basically starve in our reef systems. Someone was looking into them eating like baby stars called astrea stars or something. But i never did find out if it worked out for them. They just noticed that their tank florished with little baby stars and their success with their linkia so they thought there was a link. For now im sticking with my sand sifting star. the others seem to delicate and for now belong at sea. Hopefully your star makes it. but it doesnt look good. My linkia turned himself inside out kind of and thats how he went out. Good luck though.

| Cabbage Leather | Re: HELP Starfish looking bad! I am surprised, but this guy is not only hanging on, he appears to be healing. The sore does not look quite as bad as it did the other day. His leg is still injured, but he seems to be healing. Let's hope for the best. Although, from what I am reading, it is hard to keep them long in a tank ![]() |

| Cabbage Leather | Re: HELP Starfish looking bad! Thought I would give you all an update. I wrote on November 28th that I didn't believe this guy would make it. He is happily sticking around under a piece of liverock that has a green star polyp on it and I haven't been able to see his wound in a month. Today, he came out where I can see it. While you can tell the leg was injured, it barely has any problems now. It is growing back and he is alive. I picked up the rock 3 times over the last month to see if it was still alive and he was attached securely, so I left him alone. He is still just as beautiful. ![]() A happy story for me after all the deaths in that tank over the months. The firefish and peppermint shrimp that did survive are doing well. |
