Tomoato Clowns

Are they aggressive?

My wife wants to get rid of the purple pseudochromis and orange honey chromis and is thinking of adding another fish in place of them.

She still has the java scott damsel and it is real meek, so we are looking for an inexpensive (in saltwater terms) fish that will can live with the js damsel without driving him into living in corner of the tank like he is now.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Gumby

I have two that chase each other around but don't bother any one else. I have had them for a year. My lawnmower blenny is the kig of the tank and goes after the clowns from time to time. They are great fish I really like ours.

Generally when you take out all the fish in the tank and leave only one or even fewer then were there in the past even timid fish will start to find show some territorial behaviour towards new tank members as long as the new member isn't overly aggresive or large. so i think taking the other two out and leaving the damsel in will allow it to get a foot hold in the tank and it may be able to hold its own with "most" new tankmates you put in. then again every fish is different and it could be a complete chicken.

I personally would take the others out and leave it with just him for a week or so before looking at adding the Tomato Clown or Clowns.

Are there any other fish with some color that woudl be neat to ad to a 30g?

The wife was thinking about some schooling fish, but she would only want 3 at the most so that she could add 1 more species (totaling 3 different kinds of fish).

LOL wood,

wasn't trying to beat ya over the head just wanted to put some pics out there for people who haven't seem them. One of the most knowlegable members of my reef club kept calling my yellow goby a citron and I tried to correct him but ahh to no avail.

I love the gobies and have thought about an all goby tank. they have a ton of personality for their size. especially the yellow clown.

and no you don't have to go to the corner. maybe just a few push ups. sorry just got off the field

Tom

I won't ever have another tomato in my tank. He was a bully and I couldn't get rid of him. I guess he never made me mad enough to actually buy a trap and do the deed. Anyway, so far the best fish that I have had was an Allan Damsel. Very passive damsel but a very reflective, deep blue.

If you are sold on a clown... get a regular perc.

Another great, active group is the dwarf angels. I personally like the bright colors of the lemon peel. I've had two. I just don't know what the pro's will recommend as to how big of a tank that you should have.

I have been talking with the wife about the clown gobies for quite a while....hopefully...sooon, she will make decision.

I also have been trying to maybe talk her into a pistol shirmp and goby pair.

Maybe a yellow watchman and a pistol shrimp.

She doesn't know what she wants......
