Re: Feeding Question..

Look at the size of their eye, that is the amount of food they should consume at a feeding. So thaw out enough food for the four fish and use a dropper and feed each fish individually. I like to feed each day. Make sure they eat the food. Remember, they will be more than happy to eat more food than that, but the more they eat, the more they poop...and poop is detritus too.

Holy COW! That's about 4x what I feed a fully stocked 90g tank. Whew that's a lot of food. Remember that slightly hungry fish (not STARVED) are generally more healthy.

Greg gave GREAT advice. More input=More Output

Now keep in mind these are GENERAL rules and you need to take individual fish into about here. Some fish ( Anthias )are constant "Grazers" and needs several small feedings a day and some fish (lionfish) are gulpers and need only one large feeding a few times a week.

Live Rock Rubble will do the SAME thing as Bio-Balls and is NOT a suitable replacement for BIO-BALLS in a Reef System! It's ALL gotta go!!

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: Feeding Question..

I feed about the same amount as Seamunky to my mated pair of clowns and 1 diamond goby. I understand the pooping issue however, to keep healthy eggs coming I have been told to feed to saturation 2 times a day. Is this amount of food necessary for good egg development? I don't know for sure but I can tell you that the clowns no longer eat their eggs. I would love to hear from other clown breeders on this.

Re: Feeding Question..

Fish LEARN to beg like that. You could probably feed them every hour and they would ALWAYS be looking for food. It's in their nature to always look for it. Keep in mind they don't have a clock/calendar to know when it's time to feed so honestly they don't know when the next round of food is coming. In the wild it could be days so they don't pass up ANY meal if they can help it. Sounds just like ME on vacation I eat every 20 minutes just in case
