Blue Lobster

Has anyone had any kind of experience with these . The new LFS in my area has one and it is a very pretty lobster. He claims it will not mess with anything in the tank. I was just wondering will it eat my cleaner shrimp or snails or hermits? Will it mess with my coral? Sometimes it is hard to trust the LFS. They maybe just trying to sell you something. Also how big do they get, because if it does get 1' or more in size I am not sure it would be good to add to my tank?

it will eat fish by ambush while they are sleeping. they are are also are clumbsy and will knock over stuff as they prowl. great for a species tank but other than that, avoid them.

Mine ate fish, knocked things over, and harrased eveybody in the tank. back to the LFS. Witful is right on this one!

That doesn't look like something I want either. 1 foot 2 inches---yikes!!! I only have a 75 gallon.

Blimey that's big. I have a 4" one in my tank and to be honest I never EVER see it ..... all you see is the discarded shell once a month when they molt .... I would suggest it would be a waste of time and bio load on the tank. On the plus side it has never touched any of my fish / cleaners etc etc etc. Just a scavenger.

Yes, Witt is right and if you hand feed your amemones, if you have any, 'they will roll up their sleeve, stick their arm inside the amenones mouth and ripe/rake out he food'....sometimes with parts of the anemone coming with it. Been their done that. I had one almost a foot long and it raised hell with my big "ritteri"..... so in the cooking pot he went...... Hmmmmmmm good, yum-yum

If I hadn't gotten such a good credit at the LFS, I wouldn't have hesitated to have a small lobster snack!
