good toy to add to the arsenal, what make is it?. i presume that 005 ppm. is this post RO, or out of the tap? if out of the tap thats great! but post RO is ideally 0. my house measures 300 in, 80 post H20 softener and 0 post RO.

did it come with calibration fluid? if not i believe you will need to calibrate it first to get a true reading. good luck though. mine is a hanna.

Wooddood to answer your question mine is a hanna also (TDS 1) the instructions say that it is pre- calibrated and i shouildnt have to calibrate it for some time. I bought it on e-bay $21.45 including shipping

Hey guys - a couple of comments on this one.

You RO membrane will remove 90 to 98% of the tds in your tap water. This is the "rejection rate" you hear talked about.

You'll need you DI resin to get the TDS down further.

So one way of monitoring the performance of your RO membrane is to watch the post-RO, pre-DI TDS numbers.

You can dump straight tap water into your DI resin if you're so inclined, but the RI will quickly exhaust.

coral keeper mine is a hanna tds1 also and i was just looking at the instructions andand it really does'nt say if it is precalibrated or not only that the calibration solution is [hi70080p-800ppm[mg/l]@25 degrees c. i did'nt think they came already calibrated but it also did'nt come with any calibration fluid so you may be right, does anyone no for sure?tia. in my thinking if the water your testing is'nt at 25 degrees c it cant be an accurate reading.

The Hanna TDS1 I sell come precalibrated, including a small form indicating the meter was tested.

sorry blue but what i really was saying is why dont they come calibrated already? mine did'nt have a card saying it was already calibrated and i read many post from people saying they have to be calibrated. if thats the case why dont you get the calibration solution with ths tds meter when you buy one. seems the right thing to do instead of making the consumer make another purchase and pay more shipping also?
