heavy duty, high quality skimmers

looking for opinions on heavy duty, high quality skimmers.

I am considering to buy a new skimmer one that i can use with a iwaki 55 as the pump.

I like GEOs 8 incher but i think it a bit pricey.

I also like the Aqua C EV 400 (?) the one that rated for 400gallons

any ideas?

thanks

I don't have any experience with skimmers (well, I don't have experience with anything to do with reef keeping), but I've heard that AquaC Skimmers are one of the best you could get.

I have a lifereef mazzei injected skimmer. I like it. Only thing I don't like is my skimmer doesn't have the flanges and nuts to facilitate cleaning of the chamber. I think those are standard on most of his skimmers now.
Personally I think my next skimmer will probably be a My Reef Creations, or at least some form of a beckett injection skimmer. After seeing Andy's customer service at MyReef I think he is the way to go (Jeff at LifeReef is great too, not to take anything away from him). With MRC you can get your skimmer upgraded to a dual beckett later on if you want (my buddy just did this with his MR2)
I don't think you can go wrong with MRC or LifeReef.
And not to start a war or anything, but I really believe that Beckett injectors (well clean becketts) out perform the old downdraft style skimmers.
So basically I say go for the MR2 if you want a smaller height skimmer to run with the Iwaki.
The lifereef skimmer on an Iwaki55 might be a huge skimmer. The Lifereef I run is 3 feet tall and powered by a throttled back mag12. I should be running something like a mag9.5 on it.

A friend has/had a LifeReef Vs3-72 for sale for almost nothing.(under $400.00) Big expense would be shipping this monster. Now, all ya need is someplace to put a 6 foot skimmer!

My Hvs 2-24 should be arriving today. Boiught it used, and (hopefully) in good condition. Complete with pump and the hanging bracket (removable for sump use) for $200.00

The flanges are only available in his larger skimmers, Vs3's...the smaller vs2's still do not have them...

got some good pics of that skimmer Boomer? I think 400 is about tops what I want to spend. Also with a 6' skimmer would the iwaki 55 handle that? or is more power needed...

Spooda, I've sent him a PM asking if it's still available, and if he has any pics of it... It would be this skimmer:
