| Plate Coral | Lugol's Solution How long is a "dip"? I have some brains that are sickly but sloooooowly recovering after being under "expired" power compacts for a couple of months. Will a Lugol's dip help them? AND, if so, how long is a typical dip? Thanks John |

| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: Lugol's Solution I don't know that it will "help" but it's worth a shot as long as the process doesn't add any more "stress". If they are already recovering I don't know that I would "bother" them right now. I dip in Lugol's for about 15-30 seconds.

It's ALL gotta go!! Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change. Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian) This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%. PS - About how long MIGHT it take for my corals to recover (if they do)? Weeks? Months? I'm REALLY worried about the brains that won't eat AT ALL, not even extending their feeder tentacles at night... | |
