Salt mix preferences

I honestly dont know what to do fellas... Tropic Marine Reef Salt is insanely good but yet takes a chunk of change out of my wallet at my LFS. At my LFS they sell it for 110.00 dollars and i checked online and they sell it for 70-80 with 20.00+ special handling fees. So its more of a good thing to go straight to my LFS... But i want to get the same levels that Tropic Marin Reef salt but with a cheaper brand... Anyone have great salt types they recremend that will hit reef levels right off the bat without adding anything to it but water?

Thanks in Advance,
Lix

Re: Salt mix preferences

I used I/O brand salts 15 years ago and I am using them today. Reef crystals has everything I could want. I have heard of the bad salt but I haven't seen it and none of mine has been bad.
There is a poll around here somewhere about salt mixes.

Re: Salt mix preferences

For a reef tank, SeaChem makes a special reef salt that is higher in calcium for your corals.

Re: Salt mix preferences

Which Brand of salt to use is a personal preference and generally ones preference evolves over time.

Take a look at these posts.

Re: Salt mix preferences

I use to use TMRP with great results for many years. Now that I am zeovit RBS, (Reefers Best Salt) has more of what I am looking for. I have to say, the results are astonishing. My water parameters are dead on and the corals have never looked this good. Doing smaller weekly water changes has also gotten me on a more strict schedule improving my husbandry.
