Coral Taking Over Tank

[I recently found what looks like black plastic on one of the rocks. Purchased a new coral and it had the same thing on the back of the rock but the black looked like it was melting down to a fine string. Also have white that looks like deer antlers and clear blue tubes. Is is normal ? BubbaB][/b]

sponges are a sign of a heathy tank. over taking plastic looking stuff,,,sounds like cyano.

what is that, and how do I get rid of it. A friend told me it was just black sponge.

cyanobacteria. do a search there is alot of threads that cover it.

Did a search on RS and only found 2 threads. Looked at the tank again with a magnifying glass and can see holes so I guess that it is sponge. Thanks, Bubba

for sure need a pic to any kind of ID. sounds kinda like fungi, is it soft or velvety?
