Re: what do think of the refugee?

Pic doesn't look bad but I would make last baffle by pump just a little bit higher. It will separate it more from the refuge part and keep pump clean of plants and the like.
Also make sure to have some sort of pump intake guard if you put snails or the like in the refuge. A snail in a pump is bad to say the least

To figure out what else you would need it would help with more info...

Display size and sump size will help to figure out pump size and etc
Do you want glass or acrylic baffles??

Re: what do think of the refugee?

Here's a measured drawing. Scale as needed

http://energyhobbies.googlepages.com/metricsump.wmf
The metafile has better resolution. This is the drawing

You can set the gallons scale using 231 in^3 per US Gallon and 25.4 mm. per inch

And this is how I planned to use it...

hope that helps

John

dayum dude! can i say auto cad much? that is sweet. the only problem for me is my skimmer is alot smaller than the one that you drew there... im jealous. the only thing i need now is alota wood so i can make a stand! not if anyone had recomendations for a 36"*14 tank, that would complete my day!

Re: what do think of the refugee?

The stand for my 55 is built like a 4 poster bed. It has columns at the corners and planks top, middle and bottom. Here's the end of mine. It's really strong and you could get everything at HD. All you need for assembly would be a drill.

Excuse the mess.

thanks for the comp on the drawing. The skimmer is so big because the water flow through it would be very slow. Somewhere in the range of 200 gph... Just a plan, hasn't been built or tested.

If you need drawings done let me know.

John
