| Tubeworm | Red and green hair algea and black stuff The red and green hair algae is growing pretty fast and also i just noticed it but theres some black stuff that is on one of my rocks i can see it threw a cave, can really see it that good but the circulation is making it move. Is any of this stuff bad and how can i get rid of it (black stuff) and what critters are best for the hair algae? Also i just noticed a have a few brown rusty colored spots showing up in the tank, i just set it up a week ago 14lbs of lr 12 lbs of ls Ph around 7.9 nitrite .3 ammonia 0 nitrates 12.5 KH 8.5 degrees |

| Reef Lobster | Re: Red and green hair algea and black stuff At this point, you should allow your tank to cycle and not panic about algae growth. This is normal for a new tank. The black stuff could be some form of slime algae, a sponge or otherwise. Wait until your tank is able to complete the nitrogen cycle and add a couple of hermits and snails (pending the tank size). |
