| Achilles Tang ![]() | Any ol' top-off water? Right now we use DI water from the lfs. We're getting things ready for four weeks out of town. I'd like to have the full supply of top-off water on hand so my friends don't have to go schlep water. I have two 7 gallon jugs I will fill. I don't want to buy two more jugs as our apartment would fit into most people's kitchen and there is just no room to store them. Believe me. Can I just go to the discount grocery and buy distilled water? Or something else? Thanks.

| Bryozoan | I've used grocery store water with no ill effects...I'm working on some type of automated top off system envolving my own R/O filter...Going out of town for more than a couple of days is a pain when you lose 2.5 g a day...I'll post the results after it has ran for a while |

| Smilie Bartender ![]() | Welcome to RS Tom Vick! Jimeluiz, I've heard of plenty of people using the grocery store water without problems. But what are you going to keep that water in in that you couldn't keep the LFS's water in? Get my drift?

| Contributing Member ![]() | I've used the cheap distilled water from the grocers many times I agree having the grocery jugs that you cna throw away without feeling you've thorwn away 7-10 dollars for the big containers is a plus if you don't have room. But another thought is to get with your LFS and see if they have any large containers they can loan you for this purpose while your away. Or purchase a new rubbermaid garbage can and fill it up, when you get back, put it into service outside for trash.... |

| Achilles Tang ![]() | Yeah, Kevin - we'll be throwing away the five gallon handy water containers - since our lfs would charge stupid prices for offering this service (that is: nothing is loaned - everything costs $$$) Great - so I am hearing simple distilled water by the five gallon jug is just fine. You all in smaller towns can appreciate the 'customer service' that may be there at the lfs in these situations. Here in San Francisco I'm more on my own... and I have definitely tried to strike up a friendly relationship... they (Nippon) just don't seem to care. Sigh.
