mushroom migration

I have several hairy mushrooms and I quess all of the sudden one decided it wanted a change and shuffled itself onto a neighboring rock. It moved about 2 inches so far. Is this typical? It "deflated" and went on its way since this morning.

Re: mushroom migration

my giant hairy mushroom floated around the tank for a couple of days, finally attached to a rock....I'm guessing its normal. I believe they are semi-Anemone?

Re: mushroom migration

Seems like it a 'nem. Mine looks like it's settled in. It's started expanding again. Maybe it was feeling crowded. I have 7 of them and they are getting quite large and they are all together as they were when I got them.

Re: mushroom migration

I have a couple of ricoridias that moved thenselves about an inch or 2. One of them even left a "baby" behind. It is really small. About 1/2 a pencil eraser. Maybe it's a shroom thing. Like Varga said, it's like an anemone.

Re: mushroom migration

shrooms will move,,,,and this is how they spread as well. they will leave a portion of their foot behind to propegate a new shroom

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~
