| Majano Slayer | Re: skimmers Brad, the amount of brown waste in the cup is proportional to the settings of your skimmer. You should have an adjustment to raise or lower the level of the foam in the neck of the skimmer. You want to set it so that it is providing the desired amount of skimmate. Everyone disagrees about the right consistency/color of skimmate, but you probably want it to be somewhere between tea and coffee. Many people state that there is a "break-in" period on a new skimmer of a week or so before it really starts working properly. I'm not quite sure what is "breaking in" and mine has always worked right from the start. Whenever I clean mine and start it back up, I see brown foam forming within an hour. Could you post a photo of your skimmer in operation?
