| Reef Lobster | I'm having a hard time with my Ricordea. Hello, I hope you guys can give me some advise here. I bought a hot pink ric about three weeks ago. When I bought it, it was attached to two separate rocks, one a little more so than the other. ![]() I put it up high in my tank, because it was under halides at the lfs, and I only have pc. The first night was good, it opened up bigger than when it was at the lfs. Sometime during the third day, it detached from the rocks, and took a ride around my tank, thankfully not through a Koralia, and ended up on the crushed coral substrate. I let it hang out there for a while, and again it opened up, looked good, and was eating mysis. Then I read it was bad news to have a ric on the substrate, so I tried to gently wedge it between some rocks. That didn't work, it floated back to the substrate. Then I tried wrapping it to a rock with some bridal netting. It didn't seem to like that at all, all curled up, and again, the next day it had crawled out from under the netting, and on to the substrate. I don't like playing with this coral so much, so...finally the question is...Why can't I just leave it on the substrate. It looks happy there, and eventually should attach to some of the crushed coral, at which time I may try gluing that to a rock. Let me know if this sounds like a mistake. Thank you. bill |

| Hey!Its not my fault ![]() | Re: I'm having a hard time with my Ricordea. If its happy on the substrate by all mean leave it there.... All the handling could stress it out as well... Is it attached to a rock now? The free floating part could be a problem like you mentioned about the koralia.. If its not attached to a rock. I think some people ( Ive never had to do it) put a bowl of some sort on the bottom of the tank with some pebble rocks in it to weigh the bowl down... set the ricordia in the bowl without wrapping it.. Let it attach to the pebble rocks. Than maybe slowly over time you can move it in the tank... Good Luck,, By the way , Beautiful Ricordea. |

| WiseGuy | Re: I'm having a hard time with my Ricordea. That IS a nice yuma. Great color.I have a couple down low in my tank and out of any direct flow(i have 400w mh's). Your yuma may have let go from where it was attached because it may not have liked where it was at. Was it in direct flow? These things can be picky sometimes I guess. You may have to end up just trying several different areas out in your tank to see where it likes it best.
