Re: Alert!

yeah ours is going to be bad. Like 97 with indexes in the 100s. We don't have a generator, we're going to have to furiously rush from tank to tank swirling and swishing the water around until the power comes back.

Re: Alert!

I am fortunate to have a whole-house propane-fired generator. All my tank stuff is on a generator circuit. We had a run of long power outages in the last 10yrs, so when we built this house two years ago we felt this generator was almost a "must have" item.

We had a couple of instances where our power was out for more than a week; 10 days one time. That was in pre-tank times, but what a pain in the you-know-what!

Thanks for the thoughts, burning! It was 97 here today, and stifling with the humidity. NOT my favorite kind of weather.

Re: Alert!

Burr, it is in the 60's here and we are trying to have a BBQ party for our 25th anniversary. Looks like an indoor party, low 70's inside.

Re: Alert!

yeah, it's finally gonna warm up here too:

Tonight: A few passing clouds. Low 62F. NW winds at 15 to 25 mph, diminishing to 5 to 10 mph.
Tomorrow: A mainly sunny sky. Hot. High around 95F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.
Tomorrow night: A mostly clear sky. Low 64F. Winds NNW at 10 to 15 mph.
Monday: Mainly sunny. Very hot. High 101F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.
Tuesday: Abundant sunshine. Highs 99 to 103F and lows in the upper 60s.
Wednesday: Sunshine. Highs in the mid 90s and lows in the low 60s.

I've really enjoyed the cooler spring-like weather we've been having lately. I'm sad to see it go.

Re: Alert!

I have a different problem here in NJ...It is suppose to be 97 here today and my tank temperature is rising. I have shut down the skimmer and I am putting ice packs in the sump. It is in my basement and I have A/C on so I am a little supprised it went over 81 degrees. I know I really need to get a fan on it.

Welcome to Summer in NJ.....this is just the beginning....ive had worse. a few yrs ago it was 100* with 90+ humidity for 2-3 weeks straight. critters would just up and die on the farms, not a bird sang nor chipmunk scurried....it was true basic survival.

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~
