| Fire Coral | plumbing question. I have an All Glass Aquarium with the overflow plumbing installed. My question is, can rigid pipe be used in the barbed fittings. I'm thinking a particular size might fit inside. Or maybe Would epoxy work if I got a pipe able to fit over the barbs? Or should I forget it and just use flexible pipe/tubing? Any thoughts or advice would be welcome. Thank You. |

| Frequent lurker ![]() | Re: plumbing question. If you want to use rigid plumbing, you can buy new bulkheads. That is what I did for my AGA.

| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: plumbing question. I don't think it's made to have "Rigid" inside of the barb. Either remove the "Barbed Adaptor" and replace with a "Slip" fitting or use flexible hose. Maybe I'm missing something but I would not try to "Engineer" my plumbing with the tank.

It's ALL gotta go!! Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change. Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian) This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%. | Reef Shark ![]() | Re: plumbing question. If you replace the bulkheads so you can go with PVC, you'll actually improve your flow rate as compared to the restrictions from barbed fittings.

| Plate Coral | Re: plumbing question. I've got an AGA also and I tossed the barbed bulk heads in my fish supply box and bought some new slip fitting bulk heads and went with PVC. I love it, great flow and easy to find valves, T fittings etc. Just my 2 cents worth.
