Id just let it go. maybe add a couple snails to stir it. Stirring it to much could cause a cycle in your tank (ie. mixing it up by hand. vacuums imo are bad).

How deep is your sandbed?
If it is shallow 1-3 inches and particularly since it is so new, then you can stirr away. If it was an established deep sand bed then I would not touch it. Personally I don't worry about it. It would be too much of a pain to keep it always clean plus I like to watch the critters under the sand.
If you want you could get some sand stirring critters like nassarius snails and they will help some. Some people put molding on the bottom to cover it up.

That is way too much for them.
Reef Cleaners has them for $.55 each.
Get a whole crew from them and even with shipping it would be cheaper.

a PIECE! Man you need to have a serious talk with them. I have the WORSE case pricing up here in the Mountains and it's not NEAR that!! Maybe they have them mislabeled or something.

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Actually they do free shipping in Florida for orders over $50. I am thinking about placing an order so since you are nearby you could add whatever to my order if you like.

Well, while you are wheelin and dealin, are you sure it is the sand that is dirty? Might be algae on the glass, but nothing going on in the sand itself.

Re: How to put this? sand is getting dirty under surface. help

For a 28 gallon tank, you should have a LOT more than 4 snails...I've always believed in 1 to 2 snails per gallon, but some folks think that's overkill...
Which ever way you go, get a wide variety of species. Each has its niche in an aquarium and does better than others at certain tasks.

i have a ton of snails and crabs.. just not any that clean the sand (snails that is)
