| Smile Maker | Re: Help Fraging Finger leather You can do either. Cutting off one finger would be fragging. Cutting it in half would be dividing. |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Help Fraging Finger leather I cut off a finger. The parent will quickly heal but run some carbon to remove any toxins. The frag can be difficult to attach. I have had the most success putting the bottom between 2 small rocks and loosely rubberband them together.

| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: Help Fraging Finger leather Yes just a finger. The last time I did it I only cut the TIP of a finger and ended up with a nice small frag and the cut area seemed to heal better and look better than a whole finger gone. I did this for an "Exact" reason because I wanted a small frag for a friend who needed a smaller than finger. It worked out great and the mother colony doesn't look as "Fraggled". Make sure it's the Leather finger your cutting not cheebman's finger. Your finger wont frag nearly as well. Good call on the carbon. They do get PO'ed when you cut em.

| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: Help Fraging Finger leather If you're actively running carbon very small. Honestly it's just a defense mechanism of this type of coral (and of MANY corals actually). Just keep on top of your water params and take note if you happen to see anything unusual. Sometimes other corals will "pout" but it shouldn't be anything to worry about especially long term.

| Fire Coral | Re: Help Fraging Finger leather Thanks bigAL, recently i started a 10 gal tank for an octopus or something of that nature, but relized/learned that the tank is to small. Im new to the hobby 3months but that was one of the first things i learned was- 1in of fish per 5gal of water so i knew better b4 i stared the 10gal but wasnt even thinking. ive decided to use it as a frag tank... as u can see on my signature i have a good assortment to take frags from.. to trade with friends or with my LFS. getting new coral without spending my hard earned cash is always better peace

![]() I've never had a problem with the toxins but then again I alway run carbon in a reactor since I have quite a few leathers and I always have to keep my eyes open for chemical warfare.

I like to run carbon 1 week out of 4 but I ALWAYS have some ready... any sign of ANYTHING out of whack and it's "Carbons AWAY!" I drop a bag just about as quick as taking an aspirin for a headache. ![]()

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Help Fraging Finger leather Put it wherever there is a decent amount of flow through it. Most corals have some type of defense. Leathers use chemical warfare. LPS have sweeper tentacles that sting.
