| Scopas Tang | goby+ pistol shrimp= best friends today i bought a yellow watchman goby and a red and white banded tiger pistol shrimp to introduce into my 10g tank... as usual i let them chill in their bags for about 40 min and slowly added water to get them used to their new home. After 40 min i drop the pistol in and he immediately disapears under the rock... a min later i drop the goby in and he just chills in the take taking it all in. about 30 sec later the pistol shrimp starts pushing sand out from under a rock to make a home and the goby swims over and starts helping... instantly best friends in less than a minute... now thats some pairing... will get picks later |

| Scopas Tang | Re: goby+ pistol shrimp= best friends i got the tiger pistol from my lfs... they are very helpful their and both of the critters had a big personality right off the bat while sitting in the bag... may b one reason they were drawn to each other is because they chilled so long next to each other? i dunno the pistols name is trigger and the goby is happy... and together they are trigger happy ![]() |

| Manta Ray | Re: goby+ pistol shrimp= best friends I had a couple of Randalls with a hi fin antenna goby for a few months. Well....anyway didn't work out. After a few weeks, we came across a yashia at the LFS. By the next morning, the shrimp found it. The yashia was hanging out in the region by the usual holes. One of the shrimp popped it's head up in the back of the tank. Then back down. Then back up, moved out across the sand bed a little, skittered back to the hole. Fish wasn't paying attention. Shrimp popped back up...ran out just far enough to touch the yashia with its antennae, caught the goby's attention and ran back to his hole. Fish went over to the hole, was inspected by the shrimp. Then they all disappeared for a day. Got to work the next morning. Really cool process to watch. ![]() |

| Acropora | Re: goby+ pistol shrimp= best friends Ya know, I've been thinking about a pistol for my watchman, but Mr Coral and a few others told me that the pistols "pop" is so loud it can kill other fish in the tank. I'm not a true believer in that, but it has still been enough to scare me from getting one. |
