Twilight Zone?

I have had my purple firefish for almost two years and two weeks ago I couldn't see it anywhere. Checked the floor and the tank over for a few days using a flash light to check the caves and dark spots created by the rock and no sign of the fish. Then today while I was getting a sample of water to re-test the water after yesterdays water change, I had a Fred Sanford moment. I was certain I was going to see Elizabeth. There hanging out around the candycane staring at me like the goldfish from the South Park episode he was. After I got my butt up off the floor I grab the camera and took a shot of him.

With my pair of fire fish one does that every few weeks. Like yours will vanish for up to two weeks. I don't know anything about them spawning but my wife and I think it may be sitting on a nest in the rock somewhere.
