Purple Regal Tang?

Ok I can't locate this rascal anywhere but it was on the COVER of the last edition of Pet Solutions printed catalog. It was shaped and colored exactly like the standard "Blue Tang" or "Regal Tang". I mean it looked exactly like this
Saltwater Aquarium Fish for Marine Aquariums: Blue Tang
including the yellow triangle at the tail. The difference is this one was a BEAUTIFUL Purple. I mean royal purple and BEAUTIFUL!! Does anyone know what this is? How? where? why? How much?

Ideas?

Suggestions?

Donations?

Live Rock Rubble will do the SAME thing as Bio-Balls and is NOT a suitable replacement for BIO-BALLS in a Reef System! It's ALL gotta go!!

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: Purple Regal Tang?

Al, I can take a photo, photoshop it to death so it's perfect, and some printer will totally screw it up and make a blue fish purple.

Re: Purple Regal Tang?

yall are horrible!!

so you think it was "touched"? I mean the other colors on the page look fairly accurate so I'd suspect it wasn't a "printer" thing but would NOT put it past them to "PS" it! That's just wrong!! So very WRONG!!!

Julie is really "Wanting" for a Regal Tang... I'm so reluctant to get ANY tang due to their sensitivity and all. I've been so lucky (knocks on wood) up to this point to not have to deal with any sickness. I know I can't go through LIFE avoiding this but Tangs are just so... well you know... PRONE to problems!! I was thinking if I could locate this "Purple One" it would be "Ok" since it's probably exotic and worth the risk. Julie wants a "Dorie" (is that correct?) form finding Nemo..... what's a guy to do?

Re: Purple Regal Tang?

I've not seen and SW fish "Died" yet but I have seen Fresh Water ones. The LFs had some about a year ago. They were basically some type of Clear Tetra that had been injected in a stripe with NEON/Flourescent die. Called them "Painted Tetras" or something.

On a similar note he said he saw in a magazine where you could special order a fish with your initials etched under the scales with a laser or something. Something like "AN hearts JN" or something. Just wrong Wrong WRONG!!

Re: Purple Regal Tang?

Al, I have a Dori AND a Purple tang. The purples are beautiful and active fish. They get along great with everyone in my tank.

Dori, when I first got her, started itching herself on the rocks from day one (sure sign of ich). I started soaking their food in Selcon, Garlic, and Zoe and within a week she stopped itching. She now has beautiful colors, is fat, and just a beautiful fish.

Feed her the good stuff from day one and you will MOST LIKELY not have ANY problems.

Re: Purple Regal Tang?

they do dye fish. not so much in the SW world but its fairly common int the FW world. Some companies allege that they use lasers that dont hurt the fish but its alot like a tattoo. insert needle inject dye hope you dont hit anything they need to live.

Yep, my recent addition, purple tang, had a few little dots on her when I got her. A week of zoe and garlic did the trick!

Re: Purple Regal Tang?

Ok go here (Not sure how long this trick will work but as of right now it's accurate) Pet Solutions and in the upper left hand corner you can see the "Current" catalog covers. There you'll see what I'm talking about. It's the Regal Tang in Purple. How SWEET is that?

Sounds SWEET To me But correct me if I am wrong... the Purple you have is not a "Regal" tang correct? You have a "Purple Tang" and a Regal (aka Blue) Tang.

I haven't had any sickness yet (knocks on wood again) but I always soak my "Prepared" foods in Selcon, (forgot the other stuff) and then freeze this into "Pucks". I need to add some Garlic to the mix.

Thanks to EVERYONE for the advice and input It's always a pleasure.
