Dirty Live Rock

how do you guys keep it clean? blowing it off helps but some nasties are stuck on there. should I scrub it with a plastic brush?

I go out and by the multi pack of tooth brushes from the dollar store. They work nicely for scrubbing live rock, pumps, skimmer cups and a host of other tank things.

I use a plastic baby's hair brush, it has very soft bristles. I also coordinate this cleaning with water changes. One hand brushes, one hand holds the vinyl tubing....arm pits are wet !

Why would one need to clean the live rock? I never did this before?

Theres visible nastyness stuck to it. did some scrbbing today, clouded the water but rocks still look pretty dirty
