| Dragon Moderator ![]() | I'm glad to hear you are doing alright! That's a scary thing to happen! Way to few people realise the very serious risks and dangers we have in our tank. Hopefully threads like these will open people's eyes a little bit more, it's just too bad people have to find things out the hard way!

| Tuxedo Urchin | Oi! I also take shots for bees. I never put 2 + 2 together but that would explain my one time numbness when I was holding a 'sea mat' zoanthid for 15 minutes one time. My arm went numb for over a day. It wasn't as bad as your experience by any means but it did concern me at the time. When it went away I thought it was 'over', then a few weeks later I read about the palytoxin, and I realized that I had to be more careful from now on. Whenever I move corals now I always rub my fingers in the water until that 'slippery' feeling is off my fingers. I'm glad to hear that you are doing better now. Time for me to get a new epipen! Cheers! nigle !~ |

| Scopas Tang | WOW- I'm sorry this happened to you! I haven't been around much as I've been very busy finishing my master's program (done in May). I'm glad you've recovered! Also, welcome to reef sanctuary! You weren't around when I was on my "wear gloves" tirade, so I'll remind everyone again: ALWAYS wear gloves! Even if you've never had problems before, allergies could develop at any time! Glad to see things have worked out, though ![]() -Amanda (Reef Sanctuary Resident Nurse/Glove Lecturer...) |
