Talking I give up!

After 3 tanks and too many thousands of dollars its time to step back and re-evaluate my current sitiuation. All three of these tanks (55g 125G and now a 220) have all had succsful croal growth, but i have faild misereably a keeping a fish alive. There are only 2 common factors between all 3 of these tanks. Those factors are the live rock and me. Its time to tear down the 220G and start from scratch. I love this hobbie too much to leave it but i need to hit the reset button and start over.
Tonight i will start a 46g zoo and richordia tank only(1 bullet proof blenny to). Ill bring a truck home from work to take the remaning LR to the LFS and get a credit for future use.

Jeepers, if you have successful coral growth but fish can't live, don't break down the tank.

how do the fish die? let's see if we can't find the source and recitfy the situation.

otherwise, start a fish only tank.

do not break down a successful reef tank.

maybe its the supplier of the fish?....coral growth,,,,such a terrible problem,,,lol...if the corals are growing its not a tank issue, unless its a desease thatis getting them. if that is the case, let the tank run for several months with out fish, then try again.

Sounds like lousy fish! Usally if a reef does OK, the fish should be no problem.
Like crak said....How are they dieing??? A slow death by ick or what?

Oh,you mean i should stop beating them when they don't eat, but its soo much fun

Its all types of fish not just one, from chromis to tangs and clowns, all dead!

I have a 40w uv filter im trying now as a last dich effort, the store said that is likely protozoans killing the fish because i don't and can't run copper in my system like they do. But that is that old beggeners reasoning "but the LFS said...". At this point i'm willing to listen even to them because nothing has worked thus far.

Ok witful,i belive. The LFS you might as well flip a coin with their advice. Ill catch the blenny and put him in the 46 by him self and run the 220g fish free with a UV for several weeks or months

Thanks you guys kept me from doing some thing stupid. The blenny has also been there thru all 3 tanks, he could be the cause of the deaths if he is carying some deases. He will go in to a 10g quarintne tank with heavy amounts of copper, before he goes in the 46g. then the 220 will run empty for a long while with heavy UV filtering.

Thanks guys

Glad to hear your taking wits advice. Sorry in your previous thread we could not come up with a solution as to why the fish were dying. When there is nothing obvious to see and the fish keep dying it just would make me want to hit my head against a wall! Hopefully, what Wit suggested will work for you! Let us know what happens!

From the number of tanks and years, you have in the hobby, I am guessing it may be something very simple.
can you go over very quickly your acclimation? Do you quarintne? How long does the lfs hold the fish? Do he buy from the Phillipines?

Acclimation- place the fish and the waster from a store in a bucket. Slowly add water in to the bucket over an hour or so.

I dont quarintne, but i will in the future

from every where in the world

I had a LFS, I purchased a ton of fish from, they all dies, I found out later why, the fish was being caught with arsenic, they never admitted it.
