2 Questions kind of related

What type of sand sifter would be recommended. The algae on my sand is getting out of control. I currently have a tomato clown, his anenomie, a firefish and a tang that I am about to give to a friend.

Question 2. How would one remove a tang without disturbing all the rock work. My lil friend seems to hide successfully everytime I drop the net in. The guy at my lfs advised that I black out my room and aim a flashlight into the tank from the top, hoping my tang wanders up. Any other tricks of the trade?

What type of algae is on your sandbed? Got pics?

My fish have never been attracted to lights so I don't think that will work (maybe with small fry or shrimp). I would suggest borrowing or purchasing an acrylic trap. I have one and it works wonderfully. You place the food in the trap and eventually they will swim in. Fish Trap

Queen or fighting conchs do a great job with anything on the sand. If I ever start to get a spot of anykind of algae on the sand and my queen conch is in another area of the tank, I just move him to that area and its as good as gone. I also have a yellow sea cucumber that keeps the sand really clean.

Tiger Cucumbers are also pretty good sand sifters, ugly little mugs though
