| Midas Blenny | black sand??? and live sand question?? i did a tank change today and i had a emergency where i didnt get to put my sand back in. It is or was live. I swaped tanks 20 long to 29 and i didnt get to put my ls back in. What my qiestion is "how long would it tak to die off? it is not completely dry it is about 20 or 18 lbs in a rubbermaid container with about a gallon of water. I want to add it but i am not shure if it would throw the nitrogen cycle off. When i took it out it had some faunk to it. you know smelt like the beach. Also if you would rether not add it , could i add caibisea's super natural tahiti moon? or is there a company that sells black sand?? I know that most of there products are argonite but i dont know if this is? Thanks |

| Acropora | Re: black sand??? and live sand question?? Most people recommend replacing live sand when you get the opportunity anyway, for phosphate reasons. I'm sure you've had some die off with the sand but if its moist it would come back quickly. Just search the substrate options at Marine Depot or DR F&S for the black sand options. |

| Golden Moray | Re: black sand??? and live sand question?? if you replace all the LS in a tank you're going to have a nice size cycle on your hands. IMO its still moist probably ok, atleast anything submerged is still good. the beach smell is normal as long as you dont have a Red Tide smell you're ok
