clown question

I have a pair of maroon clowns that were at my lfs for 6 years together. so the owner says. I had a bubble tip anemone that I got before I got the clowns. They took right to it when i brought them home. They have been in the tank now for approx. 10 months. I came home from work and noticed a red circle on the ceiling portion of the rock were the anemone is. I am wondering if these may be eggs, though i dont think it is common. I have never posted pictures and dont know how. any ideas without seeing the rock, or maybe help on getting picks posted!! thanks Chuck.

Re: clown question

Sure, it's possible, but I would expect the parents to be paying them a lot of attention.

Re: clown question

I love your excitement, that is what this hobby is about. Unless you have a nursery tank set up and have researched the hatching and rearing of clownfish they will probably perish. Take this opportunity to observe the phenomenon, the parents will tend to them until they hatch and swim away. When they "slip" it is usually a couple of hours after lights out. Apparently they are difficult to catch. In controlled clownfish breeding labs, tiles are placed that the fish lay the eggs on and they are removed to an incubation tank where they are hatched and raised out of harms way.

Now that your clowns have reached breeding condition, they will lay eggs every couple of weeks. If you want to try your hand at raising clownfish, start researching and get ready for the next batch.

There is some good information in this thread.

Re: clown question

The extent of my knowledge is what you see above. Your best bet is to PM member HMA (Heinz), he has raised hatchlings and is much more knowledgeable. I'll help as much as possible, even if it is holding your hand until you get more info from HMA or others.
