Re: what kind of wrasse is this

i was looking for a wrasse, so i picked him up. I wasnt sure what kind i wanted, but he/she caught my eye and when the guy said 20 i said bag it.
the leopards where one that i was looking at. the yellow coris the guy showed me tonight but he would dig it out of the sand and poof right back into the sand it went. so considering this is the only fish i have i didnt want one that did nothing but hide

Re: what kind of wrasse is this

lol, seen this in you other thread here what wrasse is the best?.

this was my reply over there;
need a better pic but based on what looks like more yellow tails i would say its a filamented flasher wrasse.

both the carpenters and mccoskeri have red on the out edge of the tail. al are cool on these two the mccoskeri has only one dorsal filiment(long dorsal fin) the carpenters have more.

Re: what kind of wrasse is this

yeah i hear ya, wrasse do very alot but much of the issue is many pics are labled wrong. fyi its best to search using the scientific names, common names can/are used for more than one type fish.

here read this, should help. Flasher Wrasses: Recently Recognized in the Hobby by Hiroyuki Tanaka, MD - Reefkeeping.com
