| Elegance coral | 330 gallon project Hey folks... Well I just spent the past 2 hours out in the snow and ice trying to get a 330 gallon tank into my house. It barely fit, had to take out the door, and part of the frame... I picked it up used the other day and I'm looking forward to this fun new project. • DIMENSIONS: 72" L x 50"W x 53" H • SHIP WEIGHT: 900 Lbs. Plus 500 lbs. Supply Pallet • CAPACITY: 330 Gallons This is a marineland Lobster tank, the refrigeration and all other electrical stuff attached looks very bad, so I plan to strip it all out and turn this sucker into a cool, and very large tank. I'm designing a DIY filtration system that I'm just putting on paper right now. I'm curious on what you folks think about my lighting needs for a tank this size... My first goal once this is set up is to be able to grow the coraline algae with no problem, what kind of light would you suggest to acomplish the best coraline algae growth?? Also what size skimmer do you suggest for a tank this size? I would apreshiate a link to the exact model with pricing specs etc... Once I get this monster on some sort of satnd I'll take some pictures. ANY suggestions or comments are very welcome. I can't wait to get started. Oh... One more thing. I plan to get a ton of live rock for this, and have a sump and fuge of some sort. Will the rock be my biggest filtration need? |

| Reefing for Jesus ![]() | Re: 330 gallon project Your gonna need at least (3)400 watt halides to light a tank that deep, I've even heard of people using 1000 watt halides as well (scary electric bill), I would look into a skimmer rated to handle 500 gallons or more (ETSS, ASM, Bubble King, EuroReef etc), your gonna have so much fun with a tank that size good luck and we're here for you.

| Pistol Shrimp | Re: 330 gallon project Those dimensions are bigger than my kitchen, your deffinetly going to need a couple MH with that depth. Hey If you change your mind on the build you could allways turn it into a kiddie pool . Good luck the build keep the pics coming.
