Re: "Balling Method" for supplementing

Doni, let me know if/when you decide to do this and I will do it too. We can have two independent studies going on at the same time and post our experiences and results. We can share in the fun and learning!

Okay

Really, the only thing new for me is the addition of a doser, NaCl-free salt, and mineral/vit addition. I am already adding calcium, magnesium and sodium carbonate manually (Randy's Two Part). I bet you are too

Re: "Balling Method" for supplementing

You are right there. I think what I like about this method is the automation which I'm sure has its own set of problems, but I'm willing to accept that.

Re: "Balling Method" for supplementing

Alright, you folks have to stop this. Every time I think I have all the equipment I need, you all have to go and come up with some other great new thing that's going to make my reef better. I'm not falling for it this time!

So where do I get one of these dosers?

Re: "Balling Method" for supplementing

Of course they are. But the automation will be well worth it. This will wait til I'm in a permanent location though...Just going to follow along.

Re: "Balling Method" for supplementing

well, just check my email and seachem replied to my email, here it is below. looks like no go. i think the guy has seen the balling method but sounds like he has no idea on how it works. anyway here was there reply

Hello,We do not have a salt that is not predominately NaCl. The content of natural sea water is sodium and chloride, both respectively are third and fourth in the most abundant elements in sea water. I have seen a few tanks set up for the balling method and it looks great, but unfortunately we do not have a salt to recreate the marine environment without NaCl. This is the ppm of sodium and chloride of the Reef Salt: Chloride 19336Sodium 10752 It is made that way to fully replicate natural sea water.

Thank you,Seachem
