dwarf angel keepers i have?

So i am thinking about getting a dwarf angel either a bi-color or a flame angel. I was interested in knowing about the difficulties of keeping these fish. i have talked to several people and it seems that they have very specific eating habits. If you have a dwarf angel do you think it is a difficult fish to keep? I am planning on adding some more rock work to my 55 gal reef. it has been up for about 5 yrs now and is mature. I hear that angels want to have lots of rock work for hiding so i feel like i have about what it needs to keep one and i check my water parameters regualrly.

Has anyone ever heard of an open brain eating a fish??????

IME Dwarf angels are pretty easy to keep in an established system but they will eat corals particularly LPS. Many will be fine for a time, but one day they decide corals are yummy and then you have to decide if you want the fish or the corals.
I've never heard of a brain eating fish. It would have to be a small slow fish but I guess it is possible.

Re: dwarf angel keepers i have?

I found both the bicolor and the flame very easy fish to keep in my 110 gallon FOWLR. Both ate flake food w/o hesitation, and were very disease resistant. I had tons of rock in that tank, but really once they were acclimated they always just swam in the open and bedded down at night.

Re: dwarf angel keepers i have?

The Bi-color can be a very difficult fish to keep and the use of Cyanide to catch these fish is common because they're masters at hiding within the rockwork. If you can find a healthy specimen and place it in a mature tank with plenty of LR for them to graze on and good filtration they'll do very well but they do have a tendency to nip corals particulalry Open Brain corals, Clam mantles and even zoanthids. I have to remove a Bi-color a couple of years ago because he would continually pick on my zoanthids.
