What kind of plant/algea is this?

I am wondering if anyone knows what kind of plant/Algea this is. Is it safe? I am guessing it is because my tank keeps getting easier to maintain as it grows and spreads throughout my tank. It makes my tank look awsome! I like it but just want to make sure I am not getting into something that will grow out of control and cause problems down the road. Any suggestions will help... Thanks!!

Yikes! Not Cheato but it does appear to be some type of Macro Algae! How quickly did it grow? Is it "Easily" removed or is it firmly anchored to the rock/coral there?

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: What kind of plant/algea is this?

I'm suspecting a form of bryopsis, or a green turf algae. I really can't tell from the pic.

I agree. That is bryopsis.

Re: What kind of plant/algea is this?

Here are some better pictures. Is bryopsis ok. It grows rapidly just like grass. There are some branchy plants in there as well. I think you can see them in the pics. Thanks for everyones help....

Re: What kind of plant/algea is this?

Bryopsis is a very agressive macro algae that can quickly grow to unpleasant levels. I would try to manually remove as much as possible and starve out the remaining algae. It is very difficult to remove all of it from a rock so preventing the spread is very important.

Re: What kind of plant/algea is this?

The color and top portion of the leave structure leads me to believe this is not Bryopsis; Unless it's a species I've not come across before. It reminds me of a type of algae I have in my tank atm; The name eludes me tho.
