Tropic Marin Pro Reef Salt....

The LFS has this particular salt premixed for sale. Has anyone tried this particular salt? If so, what were your overall thoughts? How does it measure up to other brands?

Love it. It is my favorite salt in that you will not need to supplement it at all prior to use. The ca/alk/mg are all at good levels.

Love it. It's the only thing I have used in a long time. I have never bought it pre-mixed though. I would want to test their water as well before buying that way.

It's expensive and other more affordable salts will give you the same results. Everyone's test results on this salt are different and the opinions vary like snowflakes. Take a look at this thread.

True, but keep in mind the margin of error on both the part of the tester and test kits used.

With that said, you can successfully use most salt mixes. Just be sure to test the newly made salt water prior to using it in your reef and supplement as needed for: ca, alk, magnesium, temp, salinity.
A fish only tank would simply warrant testing the temp and salinity to be sure they match the display's.
