| Fire Coral | what to do with a 24 gallon nano I need some ideas...... I switched my reef to a bigger 95 gallon tank but i still have my 24 set up and running. I dont want to just leave it as a quarintine or something, i wanna do something unique with it. Maybe one really cool fish that lives by itself, or an invert....i dunno i cant think of anything. Anyone have any cool ideas? |

| Fire Coral | Re: what to do with a 24 gallon nano i like the idea of a lion fish! that could be fun. are they compatable with any corals at all or will they eat pretty much everything? Also I dont know anything about mantis's except that they have to pretty much be kept alone, are they reef safe? how big do they get? do they hide a lot? i want something to look at ya know, right now it looks so empty and depressing!! |

| Elegance coral | Re: what to do with a 24 gallon nano It would pry be ok but I dont know if I'd put a Lion in that small of a tank. Most get fairly decent size. I think it would be cool to do a specific region reef and try to replicate that. Like a gulf reef or indo pacific...ya get the point. good luck though sounds like a fun project whichever way you go

| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: what to do with a 24 gallon nano I like mantis shrimp but they hide too much for my liking. One of my favorite "Critters" (Purple Lobster) hides except when he smells a piece of fresh shrimp near his "lair". That's how mantis are or at least the couple I've seen. Mostly hiding unless no one is there to watch them ![]() A lionfish would be SWEET except for the limitations to the tank size. I don't know off the top of my head how large a dwarf gets but I think it's still MORE than a 24g can handle plus they are MESSY! When they eat it's a large portion and we ALL knows what goes in must come out. Most animals only retain about 10% of what they eat. That means that approximately 90% of that fish it gulped down will be back out in a few days slightly "processed". That's a LOT of poop for a 24g to process. They do have the "COOL" factor going on though.
