I got a new tank for Christmas.

I awoke on Christmas morning to be lead to the garage and what did I find but a new tank for me to play with. Its a 135 gallon Flatback Hex. She is a beautiful tank. I got it ready and added new sand and moved everything over to it from a smaller tank. I am posting some pictures and would love to hear some comments on this. It was a large undertaking for me. I hurt my back and am in lots O pain, its hard to walk and setting this thing up almost killed me. But with the help of a loving wife and patience we got it up and running.

Re: I got a new tank for Christmas.

They have great personalities.
Love mine.
I've read several places that they do better with company, but I can't imagine keeping several of those piggies fed. lol

Enjoy!

Lovely tank by the way.

People come into our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: I got a new tank for Christmas.

If you get a new tank and move most of the lr to the new one it wont go through a cycle?

Re: I got a new tank for Christmas.

I have found that there is not much of a cycle if you dont do drastic things like add a bunch of new fish. I took the LR sump all the water all the sand and every thing that was in the old tank. All that I added was 70 pounds of sand and about 70 more gallons of saltwater. so for the most part it was like doing a deep cleaning on the sand and a massive water change.... By adding the water it diluted the impurities of the waste and other things created in a reef.
