new sand sifting starfish

I just purchased a sand sifting starfish and placed it in my tank, it covered itself rightup, after a few hours I went to check on it and found what looked like two of its arms had a bit taken out of them any body ever had that happen.

cool! Just a word of caution, they will quickly devour every living thing in the substrate then starve unless found and target fed, so keep an eye out and when you see him, try feeding a meaty scrap of some kind.

Sorry to hear that! Most likely it needed to be acclimated slower to your tank conditions. They need to be acclimated very slowly (drip method). Changes in pH and other stuff can cause this too.
