Re: Help!

Looking at his build thread I believe he has T5s. Could be enough if there are lots of them and individual reflectors.

Re: Help!

Haven't had a chance to check the water.

I turned the lights off
pulled out a decent amount of sand covered in it
blasted half the rocks with the powerhead
used the net to skim manually as much as I could and cleaned out my skimmer and turned all 3 powerheads on.

I can no longer see in the tank or I'd continue.

Going to keep this up along with water changes for the next week or two.

Hopefully this does it.

And whoever said dinoflagelettes, sounds like they are right. Everything I've read sounds exactly like that.

Thank you to all for the help, I'll get test results when I have the time.

By the way, I have a 6 bulb T5 fixture over my crocea clam. I've noticed significant growth since it's install on the clam and it's never looked happier. Can you stop bothering me about the damn lighting now?!!? I know it's not the lighting causing problems.

Problem Dinoflagellates and pH by Randy Holmes-Farley - Reefkeeping.com

We only mention the lighting since that is the most frequent problem with clams.

Re: Help!

Does your fixture have individual reflectors. Crocea clams are one of the most light demanding clam species. They need TONS of light. I am not trying to offend you, but many people have problems with clams due to the fact theat they think they have good lighting. And in all actuality, most people do not have adequate lighting. Is your clam n the rock work or on the sand bed?
Not trying to piss you off, just trying to help.~Michael

Re: Help!

no worries. Individual reflectors. I put him on the rocks and it never grabs on. Seems to like the sand. Which is weird. My clam is ok for the moment. Iam more worries about everything else.
