| Tubeworm | New Tank I have had my very basic tank up and going for about two months now and other than a few damsels and three water changes, Ive done nothing to it. I've been told coraline alge only grows in healthy, established tanks. However, I was cleaning my tank yesterday when I noticed it starting to grow all over the tops of all of my rocks and substrate, and on my powerhead. It's only a 29 gal. tank with basic filter and coralife strip light. Is this something I should be excited about or is it more than likely short lived throughout the cycle process? |

| Hey!Its not my fault ![]() | Re: New Tank Coraline algae is more of a personal preference. It does mean good water quality. If you like the looks of it fine, let it grow.. If you dont like it it will take lots of daily/weekly scraping. I scrape most of mine off.. Over time it makes the tank look dark.. But its what you like that matters. Gees where are my manners... Welcome to RS

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: New Tank Yep the good and the bad all in one. It means that your tank is becoming established which is good but the stuff is a royal pain on equipment and the glass. I like it on the rocks. My whole tank is a pretty purple with the stuff.
