Ph swing

hey guys, i know that ph can swing from day to night and so on... I tested this morning when i woke up and my ligths were still off and my ph was like 7.5...well i just tested again to see what it had gone up to since i knew it would rise back up but now its normal again 8.2-8.3

is this big of a swing normal???

i recently had some xenia decay which i know is ph sensitive, could this have been the underlying issue. I regularly test my water but this was my first time testing it during the tank "night" hours.

so i guess m question is: is this normal to see this range in one day from night to day???

Re: Ph swing

Jason, one thing that you can do to try and counter act the night-time pH drop is to drip kalk at night after lights out and or have your fuge light active after the main tank light goes off. In other words have a reverse photo cycle for your fuge. Also it is possible that you need more buffer, which helps to stabilize the pH.

My pH fluctuates 0.2-0.3 between night and day.

Re: Ph swing

Jason, do you use an CA reactor? If so, reduces the CO2 addition . With too high CO2 addition not seldom comes to the described effect.
