corals with out light.

many of you know that i removed my DSB last weekend.

I ran into a bit of a snag. I needed to fill my tank with RODI water and it took longer than i was thinking.

now my problem is my corals (leathers, ricordia, pinapple coral, tubestra, acros, millaporas, green bali slimer, etc....) have been sitting in a QT with out light ( at all) for a week now and something is starting to have a bit of an odor.

question is how long can they go w/o light?

and if the water has a slight tan tinge to it is that death setting in? I change the water every day 50%

I just could not supply the light to them is what impossable.

any one wanna donate frags to me??? to help me start over!?

Chris

If the water is turning tan then you need to do a water change asap.
Also, if you don't have an airstone in there I'd add that as well.
What kind of light do you have on your tank? Is there any way that you can rig it over the tub/tank the corals are sitting in?

Hi Spooda,
I don't think it's the light that's the problem (after a week). do you have a powerhead in the tub with the corals? That's my guess about what's going bad.

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~
