| Manta Ray | Lighting Im have been doing so much ready that I think Im going to be sick. I dont know what I want to put over my new 240. I like the Solaris. But I like the look of the good ole MHs as well. What should I do? Also IF I were to go with MHs how many would I need? What is considered ENOUGH for acro growth and coloration. Here is a tank with three 250s and four 80 watt T5s it looks really good, but whats the secret. Thats not even 5 watts per gallon. http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/20...totm/index.php I NEED some help. Booze, Olivert, Cheeks, JAK, Dent, Dr.Hank, Woody, I NEED the experts, and anyone else who can help.

| Totally stoked dude ![]() | Re: Lighting I think you will like the Geissman fixture. That should be plenty of light output, you might not be growing acros on the bottom of that 30" deep tank, but it would be plenty for most of the water column.

| Totally stoked dude ![]() | Re: Lighting Yeah, that would do the job for sure. I doubt you would be very happy with the light output of the solaris lighting. I haven't seen their newer fixtures yet, but I would save those for smaller tanks for the moment.

| Manta Ray | Re: Lighting Should I go with 400 watt MHs or will the 250s be fine? I am begining to believe that the solaris will not be bright enough. But I was trying to avoid a chiller. Aw Well. Are their any systems or components that you would recomend?

| Reef Addict (hopeless) ![]() | Re: Lighting Bright enough? Oh I think you'll be very disappointed long term if you don't go with the LED's. Ask Jack.. he has them set up on a couple of tanks. He'll be up front and honest about it.

| Totally stoked dude ![]() | Re: Lighting I'm sure you have already read this but Advanced Aquarist's Online Magazine - Product Review: A New Horizon in Lighting: PFO's Solaris LED System of course this doesn't have info on the newer fixtures. I'm also not sure if dana was comparing to single ended or DE bulbs. Bulb brand and type of ballast will make a big difference on light output. Again having not seen or played with the newer fixtures from PFO I don't really know if they would be sufficient for a 30" deep tank. But having used 250 watt DE lamps I'm sure you will be happy with those ![]()

| Tiger Shark | Re: Lighting Michael am I understanding you like the white look of the MH if that is it the I Series has that I will take a picture of the I Series & the H Series both 72" & 400 Watt the I Series is 15,000K & The H Series is 20,000K for a comparison for you. I will not use photo shop to enhance either of them I will use it just to be able to post it is that a fair option?
