| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: just got a new tank! Way to go! Congrats on what sounds like a SWEET set-up. I would put the most sump/refuge you can easily fit without shooting yourself in the foot for room for OTHER equipment. It always takes about TWICE as much room as you "budget" so keep that in mind. Awesome light fixture. I'm envious ![]() I have a pair of koralia's on the way right now. I have heard some GREAT things about them. Good luck and HAPPY REEFING!!

It's ALL gotta go!! Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change. Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian) This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%. | Tridacna maxima | Re: just got a new tank! Look for about 20x turnover. Some people like more, some less. 1800gph would be okay, get a little bigger and throttle it down some if you need to. You can turn them down, but you can't turn 'em up. Way to go on what sounds like a great tank setup.

| Neon dottyback ![]() | Re: just got a new tank! Congratulations on your new tank. I also have a 90 gallon Oceanic Tech tank. I have the Coralife Aqualife Pro fixture (2x250 MH and 2x96 Actinics). This is a great tank, and I think that you will enjoy setting it up. I agree with Witfull. IMO, it is better to go with the 36" sump. You will need some space under the tank for other things. Curretnly, I have a 36" sump that has been working well for me. Just remember that if you remove the side glass, the noise level will pick up. Just something to keep in mind. As far as return pumps, Eheim is a very good brand. |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: just got a new tank! I too have a 90g Tech tank. I also love the ASM G series skimmers. I would go with a 1-x or a 2 though. I have a 1-x on mine but that is because I already had it. If I was going to buy new I would go for the G-2.

| Neon dottyback ![]() | Re: just got a new tank! I bought my sump. I have it where the water goes throught a fitler sock before filling the sump. Because of the various pumps and the MH lights, I had to buy a chiller for my tank. It was the best thing for my tank. I don't have to worry about the temperature any longer. Currently, I have two Rio 2500 returning the water back to the tank. Although they are not rated very highly, I have had no problems with them. In a few months, I will replace them with another brand. My skimmer is very similar to the ASM. ASM are excellent skimmers. I also have a Phosban Reactor and a UV in my sump area. That is why I suggested to leave some room in the cabinet. Just my opinion. |

| Neon dottyback ![]() | Re: just got a new tank! I am not very handy when it comes to building things. In my case, I purchased a 30" acrylic sump. You can go with a 36" sump, but you will not have much room for the wires and other things. In my case, all of my wires from the multiple pumps and UV are located inside the cabinet. You have to remember, that at minimum, you will have cords for multiple pumps and heaters. You get a cleaner look by hiding all of the wires. My chiller is located outside of the cabinet with my MH ballasts. If you remove the glass doors on the side, you might not be happy with the overall look of your tank. This is just my opinion, but it's something you should consider. Let me know if I can help you with any other questions. |
