| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | I was given some LR today that seems to have some very nice "growth" on it. The problem is it's been OUT of water for several hours but in a "moist" environment. If I put it into a tub with newly mixed SW, heater and power head, how long will it be ok? My tank is still several weeks from ready for LR but at the same time it's a shame to let it just "die off" completely. So what do we think?

It's ALL gotta go!! Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change. Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian) This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%. Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!! | Beautiful Katamari ![]() | Re: Live ROck Longevity . . . You can cure the LR just like you are. SW, heater and Power Head. If there is enough die-off you will start to cycle. It will be fine until you get your new tank up and running. This rock is just getting a head start

| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: Live ROck Longevity . . . Thanks buddy. I scored on this stuff. The guy was re-scaping and had this rock left over. It has shrooms, zoas, and all kinds of life on it. I wanted to keep it AS alive as I can. It even had a red-legged hermit in it. I put him in the FUGE just in case. I'll do a water change on the bucket that this stuff is in when I do tank water changes. I'll just put tank water into the bucket and go from there. Again thanks.... ![]()

| Watch this Ma! | Re: Live ROck Longevity . . . I don't think the few hours out of water will hurt it so much. But what about the lighting requirements during the time it takes to get your tank up and running? Those corals get most of their food from light.

| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: Live ROck Longevity . . . I put everything in a big tub last night with heater, power head and a coralife 20" light that was on a tank a while back. That should be enough for the few corals that are in there. This morning when I checked on it (it's in a spare bedroom) the whole room smelled like the OCEAN ![]()
