frag tank specs..hows it sound.suggestions please.

Hey i have a reg 30 gallon,filled to the right selinity,I used a lil over half with rodi,The restwith water from my two year old system,Put on a big hang on bio wheel,with out the wheel.Took a big chunk of l.r. out of my main display and chizzeled it into a bunch of rubble,and put it in the filter chamber.No filter at all.I have a 250 watt 20k diy metal halide retrokit.Its about 11 inches off the water.i have my work table to the right of the 30,It holds a 10 gallon fuge about 8 inches below the 30,5 inch sand bed,soon mangroves,I orderd a
hang on overflow box,and a small return pump.still need a skimmer.Anyone have any suggestions?what if anything should i have done different?Do u think i should add a small fish in for good mesure?

I wouldn't add "small fish in for good measure". Many people have frag tanks without any fish but some have just one or two special fish.

I like your idea of a Frag tank. I hope to do one myself soon. I was worried because I didn't see a skimmer but at the end I saw where you are getting one.

I would construct your frag shelving out of egg-crate and PVC. It's easy to work with and allows for an endless amount of creativity.

ya i allready made a three teir that sits to the right,and a smaller table to the left.so how do i make sure it is stable enough to support coral,if i cant see if can support a fish?

There are no "Rules" that say you CAN'T have a fish in a Frag tank... if you want a small fish you should get a small fish

Run them all in the same system. Basically connect the water and filtration between tanks. Many people do that way you can have one sump and one fuge for the entire system of tanks. Of course you would upsize everything to handle all of the water volume.
As far as skimmers if you don't have a sump I would go with the AquaC Remora. It is a very nice HOB skimmer.
