| Neon dottyback | polyp sponge white thingy this has completely grown over the bottom of a pretty large rock. it has white polyps in it. i guess it lives only off food since it is definalty nocturnal. [IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG]![]()

| Scopas Tang | Re: polyp sponge white thingy Its just one of numerous sponge species that can and do quite often find tank conditions suitable for its growth. Nothing to worry about and would look upon it as making your tank that much more of being in keeping with the word "reef". Chuck

| Limpet | Re: polyp sponge white thingy Yep, in fact, I think they can even be beneficial in that they are filters. And I've noticed that the encrusting ones can even compete with algae for space and "glue" pieces of rock together. I've even bought rocks just for their sponges. My favorites are the pink ones and the yellows... and the black ones. Oh, who am I kidding? I love them all... ![]() |
