| Wannabe Guru ![]() | Re: need info on sps What are you using for lighting ? If you have Halides I would place it on the substrate and see how they react. If they do well then I would keep the Monti's on the mid to lower levels of the tank and the Birdsnest mid to top of the tank again depending on the lighting. Quote:
What are your cal/alk levels and what do you supplement to maintain these parameters ? Besides good lighting maintaining proper water chemistry is essential to maintaining SPS IME.

I would look into dripping kalk or use a 2 part cal/alk supplement.

| Elegance coral | Re: need info on sps i cant wait till i can get some montis! they thrive in less light than acros, but they are just as beautiful! they are quite the calcium hogs. you should definatly start a kalk drip, or at the least have some 2 part calc/alk additives ready. the montis will for sure deplete your alk and calcium fast. also like cheeks said, if you have MH, place them low to mid, if you have anything else, mid to high. also they will benifit from food supplements like phytoplankton or cyclopeeze. at least, thats what ive read on them in my research.
